On Tuesday, September 8, three people were injured in a two vehicle crash.
According to Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Clay Road and New Statenville Highway shortly after 3.30 p.m.
The accident involved a log truck belonging to North Star Trucking Company of Live Oak, Florida and a vehicle driven by Tarnesha Baker of Valdosta who claimed that as she was travelling west on New Statenville Highway her brakes failed as she crossed the intersection in front of the truck. As Baker was unable to stop in time, the log truck struck the driver’s side of her car injuring her and two passengers in her vehicle.
Baker and her passengers were taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. While Baker’s injures did not seem life threatening, the extent of the passengers injuries were unknown. The truck driver was uninjured.
Police stated that charges may be brought against Baker after an examination of the car is carried out to determine if the brakes were faulty as claimed.
